dimensions.

True Story.

GT remembers being a 15 year old girl and wanting to rock a 14K herringbone chain for the first day of school.  I begged, pleaded and got what I asked for. Problem was; I wanted more. I wanted a bracelet to match, a pair of new kicks, some Salt and Pepa Spandex, a Name Ring, some gold hoops, my nose pierced, my hair braided, some Giorgio Parfum, a pair of acid wash jeans; and McDonalds lunch money. The material appetite was ravenous and I was an insatiable black vortex.

Imma say it plain. To live well and live quality requires a spiritual dimension. A dimension that was highly underdeveloped in the aforementioned fifteen year old girl cause I believed that without things; I was nothing. I’ve since learned that things; whether on sale or not; do not give you joy, peace, and most certainly do not fill you with love. So the next time you see a “Sale” sign do not pass “Go” and do not collect $200. Think about the fulfillment of your dimension.

What are some things that most certainly fill your dimension with joy and/or love?

Stuff does not bring you joy and peace, I have learned that too, but prayer and meditation does. Along with great music, the company of loved ones, the ocean, sunsets, a long walk, a bubble bath, reading, writing, and dancing.

Time with friends, family, taking walks, going to a museum, music, good food. It’s the little things. :-)

Good, old-fashioned FUN brings me joy and peace. We went to the zoo a couple weekends ago. We took pictures of the kids walking, talking, pretending to be certain animals LOL, and the kids waving goodbye to the condor when were leaving. That brought me joy–my kids were happy and smiling, I didn’t have to side-eye anyone, and they learned something for 3 hours of our day.

Peace, for me, is sitting out on the deck with a good book and listening to the sprinkler. When I was 15, I couldn’t wait to go DO something. ANYTHING, really. But sitting in the house, around the house, or outside was boooooring. Now, it’s lovely and it brings me peace. As soon as my husband fixes the deck speakers, it’ll be MORE peaceful with m’ music. hahaha!

Joy is walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, writing, visualizing, being with friends, cooking, clearing out clutter, meditating, laughing out loud, dancing, and just being…..
