no fail flicks.

You didn’t ask but just In case you wanted to know:

  1. Coming To America
  2. The Color Purple
  3. Eve’s Bayou
  4. Mo Betta Blues
  5. Love Jones
Runner Ups:
  1. Sugar Hill/Dead Presidents
  2. Lackawanna Blues
  3. A Soldiers Story
  4. Black Orpheus
  5. Antoine Fischer
  6. *Dave Chappelle’s Block Party
Criteria based on whether GT can watch said film ten times in a row. See why I think black film is in such dire straights? Look at the above list and tell me what happened in the twenty first century? When I’m channeling my inner coach potato; these are my go to no fail flicks.

…I know that this is a toughie but what are your top favorite black films of all time?

You nailed it, with the exception of leaving out the Color Purple. Gasp.

And thank you for adding Block Party, I heart that movie.

I vote yes! And shamefully, I can watch The Player’s Club 10 times in a row. LOL.

    As for my list:
    Coming to America
    The Color Purple
    Love Jones
Love & Basketball (only because it’s the story of my life sans the love and the basketball – it’s true)
Bad Boys (not fully black, but I LOVE that movie)
School Daze (for SO many reasons – LOL)
