I've only recently starting frequenting your blog, by way of Clutch, and to me it's such a breath of fresh air. I've been a blogger since I was 16 (I'm 22), and I've seen it go from people writing about their daily activities to putting celebs on blast all day. Sure, they get me through my mornings at work, but at the end of the day, they don't stimulate my mind, not one bit. So props to you and the others who can actually write a thought-provoking post without a single mention of Lil' Wayne and his antics. Congrats. I just hit fifty posts myself and i can't believe it. Like you, I started my blog because there just seemed to be too much focus on celebrities, fashion, makeup and other stuff in the negrosphere. Nearly 5 million black women are mothers and less than one hundred are celebrities. Heck, less than 50 are celebs. In my opinion, something was missing from the conversation. It's great to see famous folks posted up at parties, wearing expensive duds and dating other famous folk. But what about trying to help black women (3.5 million of them are raising children alone) raise healthy, well-adjusted, confident children? There are so many white-run parenting blogs and magazines and hardly any for families of color. I just wanted to put something out there that was different. I hardly get any traffic yet but I don't care. If one or two people find something useful or can think about relating to their child in a deeper way than I am happy. So many of those gossip sites are ridiculously hateful anyway. The commenters are either delusional fans or jealous haters. The grammar is usually atrocious, to boot. I really enjoy your site.
