Smoothe Thug.

Believe it or not I literally live around the corner from a Brownstone that Langston Hughes once lived and thrived in in Harlem. That poem is one of my favorites.

I feel joy.......actual, tangible joy. I love that United States map; I want to put it on my blog.

I am feeling so celebratory......this is surreal!

I feel that the words of Langston Hughes are very appropiate at this time. This poem by Langston Hughes is titled. "I, too, sing America". Here it goes:
    I, too, sing America.
    I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
    When company comes,
    but I eat well,
    And grow strong.
    Tomorrow,
    I'll be at the table
    When company comes.
    Nobody'll dare say to me,
    "Eat in the kitchen", then.
    Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
    And be ashamed...
    I, too am American.

I'm pleased. I had a big smile on my face last night. Now the real work begins. I don't think it will truly sink in for me until innauguration day. I intend to be there in January so that I can experience history up close and personal.

"Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

I am so overcome with emotion...I feel like I'm floating...all I can say is we went from being counted as 3/5 of a man to becoming President of the United States!!!! I really can't ask for a better birthday gift this year!

Ditto She's Gotta Have It..I need to go to Union Square and stock up, as well!

I am beyond elated right now, but still I find it hard to totally register. I'll get there, though! I've been thinking about what this means for us, and the infinite possibilities it brings, and it is just AWESOME. Even though Mr. President and others say that this wasn't about race, in some ways it was. Our people have truly come a long way to be able to call a Black man our Commander in Chief. I just hope that the millions of Black people who voted for him will maintain that momentum enough to change the direction of their lives so that we can become the best that we've ever been.

I'm too thrilled. I can't wipe the smug look off of my face. I'm hitting up Union Square after work to stock up on my Obama memorabilia!

GT.

Words cannot express. God is truly awesome and He has showed us that ANYTHING is possible with Him. Now, there can be no more excuses. We have to succeed. This was my first time voting in an election. The first time I felt like my vote counts. Whoo Jesus. The first will be last, and the last will be first. Thank you Jesus!

Love, Ms. Carter.

Ditto, GT.

I, too, need to process. I am kind of walking around in a stupor. I have to figure out what this means. What kind of work do I need to do? How do I engage socially and politically?

Gosh. We have work to do. America has said she is ready for us to come to the table.
