in your beeswax.

Let’s see…

It snowed 6 inches in NY this past Friday and when it snows GT parks its and enjoys the views from the window. Rented movies the old-fashioned way Blockbuster cause Netflix can’t serve your needs quick enough when you need spontaneity. On Saturday threw a Get Togetha dinner on Saturday for writer, funk brother, an ex-patriot Miles Lewis and his wife Christine…some other friends were thrown into the mix and we chopped it up sublimely and filmed a good portion of it. Our party didn’t end till four in the morning so Sunday was mostly about recovery and leftovers.

Share you weekend beeswax and don’t forget about the Envirosax giveaway! Winners will be chosen manyana.

    GT my weekend was quiet and more quiet. I was bored to tears! I tried to finish reading Toni Morrison’s latest book but I tragically have given up for now. Her books are sometimes so frustrating. I can’t wait for Christmas to be here and I’m even more excited for the 2009 to arrive…anyone else?

    I had a great weekend! I purchased my soon-to-be 13 yr old a regular bed. (Yeah, she was sleeping in the same converted crib/toddler bed from the day she was born). After getting her bed set up, I was able to relax. That night I had a glass of premixed Cosmopolitan which interestingly led to the rest of the bottle. But hey.. it was all good. :) Everything was accomplished that I set out to do. So I’m happy. And I am also ready for Christmas and spending time with my family.

    My weekend was great. Also hosted a gettogetha on Saturday evening, with good food and great friends. I can be a very stressed party-planner, but everything worked out beautifully. Sunday started off with lounging and leftovers, with no plans to go a damn place as I was also buried under snow up here in Toronto…however, I returned the party favour and went to a friends’ place for some more food and fun. Now, I’m definitely in the holiday spirit :)
    My favourite post of last week would have to be the Beth Ann Hardison post. I model part-time, and as a woman of colour, I know how hard it is to really break through in the industry. I love and admire with Beth Ann is doing. As frivolous as the fashion industry may seem to some people, it’s still very disheartening to see the lack of diversity. Hopefully with Beth Ann’s work, and the recent steps that European outets have made, we’ll start to see some more progression.

    Good Morning and Holiday Greetings!

    This weekend I received my Holiday Card from GT! It was so calming and heartfelt! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! ! It really brightened my day.

    Firday and Saturday was much of a blurr it seemed to go by so fast.. but Sunday winded down with Church & the Fam and SCREAM FIGHTING out way through -28 degree windchills and -2 degree temperatures!! It was so cold my windows had ice on them FROM THE INSIDE!!!!! I’m shivering just thinking about.

    My favorite post from the week cannot be any other one EXCEPT Living a Hot Mess. That post was such a dose of TRUTH and REALITY. It left me speechless. It was post was pure and priceless..and I’m still chewing on it as we speak.

    Blessings of Happiness and Peace.. ..

    @Harlem Chic.
    Yes. Toni will use acrobatics before you can read her books straight through; but I find her books to be an enriching experience. I put down Beloved twice, watched the movie and decided to give the “masterpiece” another try. It was well worth the struggle.

    @ Chocolate Orchid
    Congrats on having a teen on your hands..lol..may the force be with you. I taught 8th and 9th grades for a year and all I can say is have mercy, give me strength, and pour the Cosmos!

    @B
    Toronto…? That’s awesome. I’ve been to the cleanest city ever two years ago and did the whole tourist thing. I loved it. Get Togethas are fun and beats Twitter and Facebook on any given day in my book…

    @First Lady..
    I’m glad you loved the card girlfriend! And you’re welcome for the hot mess post…Just speaking my truth and hoping that it’ll inspire someone to live theirs.

    I was pretty bored all weekend…it’s the first weekend that I have free of school so I was too tired to read for leisure or do anything so I kind of just lay there like a slug, lol.

    Sometimes being a slug is all that’s necessary. Downtime is underrated.

    I had a nice weekend where I purged, purged and purged. I have the house to myself, so I’m ejoying it. I chatted it up w/my local coffee shop employees, did some writing and it rained cats and dogs all weekend long.

    We’re in teh rainy season in SF, so my weekends will be spent taking care of home. I loved the “Warning” post because what you value and how you choose to live are reflected in your home and the things that surround you.

    Happy 3 days til x-mas. ;)

    Hey, y’all

    I had a crazy-busy weekend!

    Friday: I hung out with some folks from undergrad, and we finally secured a cabin rental for the weekend after Xmas. Until Friday, our mini-vacation seemed like a no-go. But we managed to get a place near Monticello! Yaay!

    Saturday: Had a pedicure and lunch date with the girls (and one guy)! We did some shopping, too. Later Saturday night, I attended a co-worker’s boyfriend’s Xmas party. It was not that great; in fact, the men retired to the basement to play poker while the ladies had to figure out how to hold each other’s interest. Normally, that is a cool set-up, but it did not quite work on Saturday night– I am not sure why.

    Sunday: I took my visiting friends to my UU church; they enjoyed the Winter Solstice service. Later in the day, I attended a cookie-swap party! GT, I know you are going to cringe, but I had to bring store-bought cookies to the party!!!! Yes, I am suffciently embarrassed. Ha! I did not allow enough time to experiment with cookie-baking! LOL! The party was nice; I won two prizes during the holiday games!

    Merry Christmas, y’all!

    We got a LOT of snow. So we played in the snow. Drank hot chocolate. Watched films. Slept in. Rinsed. Repeated :)

    Hi GT (long time no comment),

    My weekend was pretty uneventful. Because of Friday’s snow fall, my trip to the Poconos was canceled. The trip’s hostess called it off the night before for fear that we’d have trouble driving over there and/or get stuck coming back. That meant I’d have off from work on Friday, so I kicked it with my love. I stayed home all weekend, and didn’t see outside until this morning when I left for work!
