hot messes.

GT is flattered. Since starting this blog Get Togetha has gotten many requests to tackle the almighty subject of clutter and I’m most certainly happy to oblige. Type “clutter” in a Google search and you’ll have a katrillion hits on how to handle matters of perceived disorganization. With all the advice out there you would think that the world would be a more well adjusted place no?

I first want to state that they are different types of clutter. There’s the messy disorganized house, there’s hoarding and attachment, and then there’s the severe emotional dysfunction that comes in the form of a cry for help. Only you know which category you fall in; but GT’s gonna risk not being liked and take it a step further: clutter’s emotional source comes from feelings of lack, faulty fulfillment, loneliness, and/or a belief in limitation.

So if you have a problem throwing things away fearing that you’ll need them someday, you keep buying things you don’t need because they’re on sale, you’re surrounded by things you halfway like and halfway committed to, you’re drawn to negativity and doom, you have sticky fingers and are on Winona Ryder status…well then…you’re a hot mess.

But hot messes can get cleaned up. It all starts with telling the truth. Cause the truth of all truths is that most people believe that they will never have, do or be enough. And GT is here to tell you that you are enough. Anything that keeps you from growing into yourself is a lie. GT says don’t do nothing about nothing until you can be completely honest with yourself; otherwise you’ll end up right back where you’ve started; leaning on your closet doors trying to stuff all those packed GLAD bags back into your metaphoric closet.

Best.Post.Ever. I’m reading Style Statement right now trying to do the honesty-with-self thing. This was right on time.

Good stuff GT. I’m a purger and will toss something or someone in a minute. After holding on to crap for so long in my life, I understand the need to let things go when they are no longer useful.

I’ll let stuff build and then stop, look around and think damn! How’d I let things get this out of control? That’s when mission clear the crap begins. lol

I’ve gotten rid of a lot of mayhem and foolishness in the past few months. I look forward to even more! :)
