design trend: ikat won’t go away.

ikat

The Ikat trend popped its head in on the design scene somewhere around 2006, peaked around 2007, took a bit of a nose dive in early 08; but is starting to make another striking reemergence in the 09′ design world. Reactions to this design motif range from dizzying and nauseating, to love love, passion and tradition. Initially GT was like meh…just meh; but sometimes things need to go around the block a few times for you to appreciate them. The longer I stare at it the more I see its authentic beauty and global appeal. (product key after the hump)…

What’s your initial reaction?

My initial reactions is…I dig it. I’m a fan of textiles and I love what I’m seeing here. The bowls are fab.

I love it. I have two of those bowls as well as two of the pillows from Pottery Barn. They’ve definitely added the punch to my home decor that I needed.

I’ve always been a fan of ikat but my decor tastes have always leaned a bit more Indian/Moroccan so I would have to have something like the bowls, or the tops, or something small like that with the pattern.
