design influence: union jack
It’s recognizable as the British Flag but the design motif is officially known as Union Jack. The British flag is more recognizable than Mickey D’s Golden Arches and symbolizes the strength, domination and bold personality of the world’s most powerful monarchy. Monarchy=masculine boldness and if you can see yourself decorating with the Queen’s stripes that would make you…well…bold. My personality is a bit more subdued but that refrigerator alone would get opened and closed opened and closed just for kicks.
Yay or Nay?
Clockwise Smeg Union Jack Refrigerator. Modern British Wall Clocks & Queen Pillow, Naked Decor. British Flag Dog Bed, Jonathan Adler. Union Jack Tea Cosy, British Gift Baskets. Union Jack Upholstered Chair, Dan Marty Design.

Jury is out…I don’t think I could look at the Jack all day, but the Queen’s head on a clock is mighty interesting…

I love the Queen pillow and the black clock is pretty cool.
Let me tell you, that fridge is amazing! It’s alot of fun even though I’d never commit to having it in my home.

Just so you know, the flag is only called the “Union Jack” when it’s on a ship. Beyond that it’s simply the British “Union Flag.” I just learned this recently and have been calling it a Union Jack forever.
Best.
