Scandalous Beauty: You Tube Superstar.

Name: Erin Bailey
Url: ScandolousBeautyOnline.com
Claim to Fame: You Tube MakeUp Star. Humble. Graceful.
City: Severn, MD (by way of Baltimore)

Not many people can say that they’ve touched the lives of women that number in the hundreds of thousands; but Erin Bailey can. You know how it is on YouTube. One video links to another and then something pulls you in and makes you pay attention. And Erin’s makeup tutorials combined with her authenticity do just that. And Yes. She personally consults. And she’s a Starbucks Junkie like GT so we’re cyber BFF’s. More after the jump…

Erin. You seem to have a sixth sense for makeup. I’m gonna take it further and say that you have a gift for makeup. How did your passionate love affair of makeup begin?
Back when Bonne Bell and Jane Cosmetics were the hot teen brand, I always walked over to see the colors and imagined them on my face. I learned from a high school friend how to blend makeup because her mother was on BET’s Pamela on Politics. She taught me how she did her makeup when she went on the air (At the time she was a broadcaster for C-span). I’ve been hooked ever since.

We all peruse blogs for our particular interest. What makeup blogs are on your radar?
Juvenescent Elixir, Reflections of Your Beauty and Edatrich are my daily reads. They’re always updating their sites with new makeup looks, and share with you the products you need to recreate the look. Plus. They aren’t scared to use color.

What do you feel makes great skin?
Water. And I hate drinking it. That’s why my skin isn’t all that great! LOL. But I’m working hard on changing that. As for skincare I’m starting to use natural brands such as Juice Beauty and LUSH.

I’m really ignorant about makeup and the choices are dizzying. Is there really a difference between department and drugstore brands?
In some cases; yes. But it really depends on the brand. Loreal H.I.P is as close as you can get to great department store quality at the drugstore. And I can’t find any difference between cheapy lip liner pencils and the ones found at MAC.

What products do you tend to splurge on?
Becca Cosmetics.

BECCA

Who is your celeb makeup inspiration?
I would have to say Kelly Rowland. She’s Gorgeous, humble, sincere and classy. I love everything about her.

What music puts you in a good mood? Over the years I’ve turned into a Neo-Soul and Jazz junkie. I love listening to Esperanza Spalding, Jose James, Dwele, Foreign Exchange, Estelle and Jill Scott to name a few. I also have some good Gospel that inspires and motivates me “Grateful”, “For Every Mountain” and “Encourage Yourself.”

What reasons do you feel that people gravitate towards your amazing you tube clips?
I wonder that all the time! Ha! I’d like to think its because I talk to everyone like they are my friends and not like I’m a saleperson. I like to keep it real as much as possible. Sharing my love of makeup always makes me happy and I guess that shines through.

Can you share something your readers would be surprised to know?
I’m a retired drummer! I was a percussionist for 9 years and played with 5 bands and orchestras. My drum set was really old so I gave it to GoodWill and never got another. Sometimes I think about getting a new 9 piece set to rock out on!

And in GT Fashion if you could have anyone over for dinner alive or dad who would they be and what would you serve?
I would invite makeup artist Billy B. He amazes me every time I look at his work. He’s this white guy from Mississippi who basically made his claim to fame doing Black Celebrities. He’s humble, he’s real and he inspires me more each time we speak. Since he’s a country boy I’d give him some food that would stick to his bones: Chicken, Ribs, Mac & Cheese and Good Ole cook out food.

I LOVE Juice Beauty!! I’m so glad that Erin mentioned it. Not only is in natural, its ORGANIC! I heard that Kelly Rippa’s make up artist is in Love with Juice Beauty and uses it on her too.

Try the SPF 20 Mineral Med. Moisutirzer, you can get it at Sephora. I use it under and sometimes instead of my concealer for a little color, plus it has SPF in it. Make sure to use a mineral make up powder if you need the extra coverage. I wonder if Erin uses this product…

Juice Beauty is the BEST! I started using it like 4 months ago and my skin has been almost flawless since then. The Organics To Clear Skin Kit is like magic, and its ORGANIC! My face has never been better. I get all my stuff from Sephora.
