convo: the top bunk
Remember way back when you were eight, nine and ten? Did you have to share your bedroom or were you one of the lucky few who got to play with your toys, clothes, hair and makeup without your kid brother or sister putting their mangy hands on things that didn’t belong to them? It amazes me to this day to even say that I’ve always had my own room in spite of having three other younger siblings. I know. Craazy. But then I start thinking about how I’ve never had late night conversations with flashlights or shared in the fun of pretending to be asleep while making up imaginary stories. I loved having my own room but I remember seeing Child’s Play as a tween in the theaters and wishing to Jumping Jesus Christ that I had someone to share in my guaranteed nightmares…So peoples…did you have to share growing up?

I am the youngest of 3, and 11 years apart from the middle child….so growing up I rarely had to share which is probably why I am so self-centered today.
I must admit its seems when you don’t have to share you wish nothing more than for someone to share with and when you are able to share you want nothing more than to not have to…. **wonk wonk wonk**

I shared a room with my sister for a few years and we were young enough that it was just fun. Thankfully when we entered the pre-teens we were separated! lol

Being an only child, I have never had to share a room, toys or anything with another sibling.
By the time my mom had another kid, I was in high school and a few years from graduation – so that was still never an issue.
It’s probably the reason that I’m selfish now, lol. Admittance is the first step!

I was the oldest of four. At some points I shared. At other points I had my own room. Both had advantages.

Sharing was always a part of my life. I had an older brother and a younger brother and we did everything together. And yet I had my own room because I was the only girl. Although I still shared a room often because my mom had a home day care and we had a house filled with children. Then in my junior high and high school years my mom gave birth to my two sisters and I spent my teen years sharing a bedroom with babies!

I have two older sisters, and one older brother, so I had to share with my sisters until I turned 15, and moved into the basement. While my memories of sharing a room are fond ones, now – I don’t remember thinking it was so great back then!

I grew up in a large family (my parents had 10 kids) so I just always shared and it was fun. At the time I honestly didn’t even know what it would be like to have my own room. I was in college, sharing an apartment with two of my sisters the first time I had my own room.

Ishared a room for the longest time with my younger sister. We are only 14 months apart and mom had the bright idea of dressing us alike. When I got older, I had my own room only to find my sister always coming in it. It was like sharing all over again.

Nope, I have had a full size bed since I was about 10, only because my sister left it when she moved out. My boys have 2 sets of bunkbeds. Only one of them sleeps on the top. They love it. All I can remember is going to girl scout camp and a girl rolling off the top bunk in the middle of the night hitting the floor hard. After that I never wanted to sleep in one.
